Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Where can I get free past performances online?

A. You can't in general. DRF and Equibase both do two races per week where they give free past performances. From time to time BRIS will give them free for all tracks for a month. Most places normally charge $1 to $2 per card for past performances (check here for a list of sources).

Q. Where can I get the race record for a particular horse for free?

A. You can't. There are several places that will sell you that, but nobody has it free. Try BRIS and EquineLine.

Q. How can I find the name of a horse if I have his tattoo number?

A. The Jockey Club will gladly research this for your for a fee. You can find the year a horse was born from this chart.

Q. Where can I find race results?

A. You can check my entries and results page for several sources if the race was within the last few weeks. For races older than that, you will have to go to a source like BRIS or EquineLine and purchase the information for a small fee. Their archives go back to 1990.

Q. How can I adopt a horse from the track?

A. Check here for several organizations that handle adoptions of former race horses.

Q. Where can I find a schedule of racing dates for North American tracks?

A. Check here for directories of tracks and racing dates.

Q. How much is my Kentucky Derby glass worth?

A. Check here for a price guide online or here for more collecting info.

Q. Where can I find handicapping tips or strategies?

A. Try the links in the free tips or handicapping strategies sections. Please don't ask for my personal wagering strategies or tips as I don't consider myself more than a recreational handicapper and would prefer to send you to professionals.
