The Distaff had a field loaded with talent this year. Beautiful Pleasure was coming off two straight wins in the mud in New York and the only worry was if she could run as well on a fast track. She didn't disappoint her many backers as she set a brilliant pace and still managed to hold off the late kick of Banshee Breeze. Silverbulletday was the favorite but ran a very disappointing race, apparently just not quite up to the competition of the older females yet. Banshee Breeze came back in distress from the heat but seemed to be OK after getting watered down good.
