Jockey Club Gold Cup Day at Belmont

Saturday is Jockey Club Gold Cup Day at Belmont Park with four Grade 1 and one Grade 2 stakes on the card. At three weeks before the Breeders' Cup, this is the final prep for many of the major contenders, so the outcomes here should have a big impact on who we see October 27th.
Grade 1 races on the card are the Jockey Club Gold Cup for the 3 year olds and up at 1 1/4 miles, the Beldame for the filles and mares at 1 1/8 miles, the Champagne for the 2 year olds at 1 1/16 miles, and the Frizette for teh 2 year old fillies at 1 1/16 miles. The Grade 2 race on the card is the Kelso for the 3 year olds and up at 1 mile on the turf. An excellent afternoon of racing is in store and we will be there to take pictures and report back on Saturday evening.
The Kelso Handicap (post time 5:18pm EDT) and the Jockey Club Gold Cup (post time 5:50pm EDT) will be shown live by Fox Sports New York, via TVG, during its one-hour telecast starting at 5:00pm EDT. Tape replays of the Beldame and Frizette will also be shown while the Champagne will be shown live on CNBC along with the Breeders' Futurity from Keeneland during a one-hour telecast starting at 4:00pm EDT. If you can't get any of these channels on your cable system, you can also listen to the races live here.
Free past performances for the Jockey Club Gold Cup will be available sometime on Friday from Daily Racing Form and Equibase.
Fans attending the races at Belmont will receive a free Belmont Park T-shirt (picture to the right) with each paid admission while supplies last.
