Came Home the winner of the Pacific Classic with Mike Smith up.

Came Home silenced the naysayers who claimed he couldn't win at 1 1/4 miles with a convincing victory in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar in a final time of 2:01.45. War Emblem entered the race as a heavy favorite at 1.20-1 while Came Home was dismissed at odds of 10.5-1 despite having a speedy entrymate to help soften up War Emblem early.

War Emblem broke a bit awkwardly after being difficult to load in the gate, but immediately went up to track the early leaders. He briefly took the lead at the head of the stretch, but lost it quickly to Came Home who was rallying from his stalking position in fifth. Momentum put in a late run but just couldn't catch the determined winner while Milwaukee Brew fallied from the back of the pack for third. War Emblem faded badly and finished sixth.
