Gentlemen Pacific Classic 1997

The 8th running of the $1 million Pacific Classic today at Del Mar was arguably the best race of the year so far for the older horses, even with the absense of Skip Away. Last year's winner Gentlemen, Free House, Touch Gold, and Puerto Madero made an awesome foursome in here. Everyone knew it would be one of those four to win and they didn't disappoint with Free House winning by about three lengths over Gentlemen in 2:00.29 for the mile and a quarter. Long shot Pacificbounty got up for third as Puerto Madero and Touch Gold never got into the race and finished 5th and 6th.
