Point Given winner of the Preakness and Belmont will make his next start in the Haskell Invitational on Sunday

The Jim Dandy Stakes and the Haskell Invitational

This weekend two major races are on tap for the three-year-old colts and geldings and both are headlined by a Bob Baffert trainee. First up on Saturday is the $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga featuring Baffert's Wood Memorial and Swaps Stakes winner Congaree and Nick Zito's Preakness and Belmont runner-up A P Valentine. Sunday is the $1,500,000 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park where Baffert's Preakness and Belmont winner Point Given will make his first start since the Triple Crown. The purse for the Haskell was to have been $1,000,000 but to lure Point Given into the race an additional $500,000 was offered if he entered, and he did.

Congaree winner of the Swaps Stakes will make his next start in the Jim Dandy Stakes on Saturday

Post time for the Jim Dandy Stakes is Saturday, August 4th, at 5:32pm ET as the ninth race on the card at Saratoga. It will be shown live on ESPN from 5:00-6:00pm. The Haskell Invitational is Sunday, August 5th, with post time to be announced after the post position draw. It will televised on ESPN2 Sunday from 6:00-7:00pm ET.
