2002 Prince of Wales Entries

Dateline: 7/17/02

Today the entries were taken and post positions drawn for the 67th running of the Prince of Wales Stakes, the second leg of Canada's Triple Crown. A full field of twelve three-year-olds were entered including the first six finishers of the Queen's Plate four weeks ago. It is a very contentious field with no clear cut favorite. Queen's Plate winner TJ's Lucky Moon is the morning line favorite at 4-1, a huge change from his 82-1 final odds in the Plate. Anglian Prince, Forever Grand, and Ford Every Stream are nipping at his heels with odds of 9-2, 5-1, and 6-1 respectively. In addition to the Plate starters, four new players have joined the game hoping to be the spoiler. If TJ's Lucky Moon can win ths year, he will go into the final leg of the Triple Crown with a chance to win the $500,000 bonus for sweeping all three races.

Post time for the Prince of Wales Stakes is Sunday at 4:42pm ET at Fort Erie Race Track and the race will be shown live on SportsNet in Canada.

Below are the entries for the Prince of Wales Stakes. Distance is 1 3/16 miles, all horses carry 126 pounds.
