NTRA All-Star Jockey Championship
Date: 6/27/01The fifth annual NTRA All-Star Jockey Championship was held last Friday at Lone Star Park and four time Eclipse Award winner Jerry Bailey came out the winner with 19 points total. Second was 1999 winner Laffit Pincay Jr. with 18 points while Pat Day was third with 16 points. All three are members of the Hall of Fame.
Bailey, whose best finish prior to Friday was a third in 1998, said: "I really wanted to win that bronze statue here. I thought it would be a shame if I’ve accomplished what I have in 26 years and then in a few years when I retire, not have won this here. I was beginning to have my doubts, but thank God I was able to pull it out this year." For more details on the Championship, check here.
Photographer Tina Hines was there and got lots of photos for us, so enjoy!

1998 Championship winner Shane Sellers, who is now pursing a career as a country music singer, gave a concert in Lone Star Park's Courtyard of Champions. Here he is (center with white hat) posing for a group shot with all the other jockeys.
