Hallowed Dreams at Lone Star Park

Date: 6/27/01

Hallowed Dreams, the speedy filly from Louisiana who captured the attention of the racing community last year when she won 15 straight races, continues to rack up the wins. Her latest was the $75,000 Miller Lite Stakes at Lone Star Park where she zipped 5 furlongs in 56.03 seconds. That stretched her current win streak to 7 straight and her lifetime record to 23 wins in 24 starts. Her only defeat came last year at Evangeline Downs where she finished 3rd in a sub-par effort.

So far all her starts have been in Louisiana except the last two which have been at Lone Star Park in Texas. Her connections have been criticized for ducking the stiffer competition in California, Florida, Kentucky, and New York. Her co-owner Johnny Gaspard said: "She doesn't have to prove anything to me, but there are still people who think she's a mediocre filly. I happen to know better." For more on her latest race, check here. For more on her career, check here.

Since she doesn't race on the major circuits, most people haven't seen her or even pictures of her. Photographer Tina Hines was there for her last race and got lots of photos for us, so enjoy!

The win! Carmouche said: "She has so much speed, whenever I need it, I just use it."

All the happy connections in the winner's circle made for quite a crowd.

With the trophies.
