Dateline: 06/06/01
An interview with honorary drawmasters for the Woodbine Oaks, World Pairs Figure Skating champions Jamie Sale and David Pelletier. The interview conducted by Woodbine track announcer Dan Loiselle, after an edited video of their Championship performance was shown to the audience.
Loiselle: Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming to Woodbine, Worlds Pairs Figure Skating Champions Jamie Sale and David Pelletier!
[applause]
Loiselle: Wasn't that spectacular!
Sale: Thank you.
Loiselle: Jamie, you first, when you see that video again, and I'm sure you've watched it more than once, and I know I would have, what emotions go through you?
Sale: Well, I can tell you, every time, actually this is probably the second or third time we've watched it again, and I get the same butterflies, I get goosebumps, and I'm glad you didn't show the whole thing. I go through it every time, I remember exactly how I felt, I remember being so excited, and thinking that "We did it! We did it!", because last year was not a good Worlds for me. I was just so happy that I did it in Canada and laid it down that night.
Loiselle: You looked like you cashed a triactor there, that's the way I act in the press box right after it. I guess the most obvious question David would be, how does it feel to be a World Champion?
Pelletier: Well, you know, the next day you still have to do your laundry and get up in the morning and have breakfast so, nothing much has changed, just feels great to fix a goal and work at it and finally attain it. Actually what feels the best is to fix yourself some goals and face up to the challenge and succeed in what you do.
Loiselle: Jamie, what has your routine been or has your life changed at all since the World Championship medal performance in Vancouver?

Loiselle: Now, the Winter Olympics next year are in Salt Lake City. David, how confident do you feel? It's quite a way yet, but it has be in the back of your mind. How are you feeling about Salt Lake right now.
Pelletier: Right now it's a little bit too early, obviously we're thinking about it because people are talking about it, but it's so far away from now and we still have a few competitions to go on. We have Skate America, Skate Canada, the Nationals, hopefully the Grand Prix Final, and the Four Continents. So there's a lot that's going to happen before the Olympics so it's not really on our mind right now.
Loiselle: Jamie, between now and the Olympics, like David was saying, it's a long way away, you have a tremendous amount of competition or will it mostly be training.
Sale: There's going to be a lot more training this year than last year. Last year we filled our schedule with three Grand Prix, this year we're only doing two, so that's a lot easier than last year I think. But like Dave said, we've got at least two or three before Christmas and then one after Christmas, and then Olympics.
Loiselle: Well, it's great to have you here at Woodbine, taking time from your very busy schedules. You made the country proud. And as far as Salt Lake City is concerned next year, go get'em.
Sale: Thank you very much
Pelletier: Thank you very much.
Loiselle: Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, ladies and gentlemen.
