Surprisingly the morning line favorite isn't War Emblem but Medaglia d'Oro who finished fourth in the Derby. They were given odds of 3-1 and 5-2 respectively. Third choice in the morning line is Harlan's Holiday who gave a disappointing performance as the lukewarm favorite in the Derby.

Today the entries were taken and post positions drawn for the 127th Preakness Stakes. Although as many as 20 horses had been considering the Preakness as their next start, only 13 were entered. Kentucky Derby winner War Emblem was drawn to select his post position first and trainer Bob Baffert took number 8. D. Wayne Lukas chose second for his rabbit entrant Table Limit and took number 9 right beside War Emblem.
