Wagering is closed now for Pool Three of this year's Kentucky Derby Future Wager. This was the final pool for 2003 and included a future wager on the Kentucky Oaks. Total wagering for Pool Three was $222,261 for the $2 minimum wager, down from last year's $524,847, the lowest for Pool Three since the wager was inaugurated in 1999. Florida Derby winner Empire Maker was made the overwhelming favorite at 2.50-1.
The bet is a two dollar minimum wager to win only. Past performances are available free online from BRIS and TrackMaster, plus a ClassGraph from Equibase. If you want more information and analysis, you can purchase the Futures Edition from the Daily Racing Form.

This year marked the debut of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager. Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Storm Flag Flying was made the favorite at 3.80-1 despite having no starts in 2003 as yet. She is expected to maker her season debut at Aqueduct on April 18, and is by no means certain to even start in the Oaks at this point. Free past performances are available from BRIS.
