Our Mims, the 1974 foal of Sweet Tooth by Herbager and a half sister to Alydar, was bred at and raced by Calumet, bringing the farm it's first Eclipse Award for her three-year-old champion season. Our Mims broke her maiden in an allowance race at Hialeah Park on March 10, 1977. That win was followed by a win in the Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Our Mims then ran third in Keeneland's Ashland's stakes, second in the Kentucky Oaks and fourth in the Acorn stakes at Belmont before winning the Coaching Club American Oaks at Belmont Park. She then went on to secure wins in the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga and the Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park.
Our Mims left Calumet farm in November of 1990 during the dispersal sale, and entered the ReRun program in the fall of 1999. Our Mims was adopted on February 9, 1999 and spent the last years of her life under the loving care of Jeanne Mirabito. "Never was a horse more loved or cherished than this great mare," said Mirabito. "It was an honor to have her as part of my family."
Our Mims was laid to rest at Calumet.
"The grounds crew was extraordinary in the gentleness they showed their champion," said Mirabito. "This mare was given a burial fit for a queen."
