March 29, 1917, the great Man o' War was foaled at Nursery Stud in Lexington, Kentucky. March 30, 1970, the great Secretariat was foaled at The Meadow in Doswell, Virginia. Both were chestnuts and went by the nickname of "Big Red" and both went on to be champions and were recognized as the greatest horse of their era.
