Breeders' Cup 2003

2003 Breeders' Cup

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) have announced that a 2004 Hemi-powered Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT truck will be given away to one lucky fan at the October 25 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Oak Tree at Santa Anita. The vehicle, which carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $33,705, will be awarded as part of a sweepstakes tied to that day's $4 million Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge.

Upon entering Santa Anita Park on Breeders' Cup Day, race fans will receive an entry blank which must be filled out and deposited prior to 11:30 a.m. in specially marked bins located throughout the facility. Finalists will be drawn corresponding to the number of horses running in that day's Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge. If 12 horses run, for example, 12 finalists will be selected.

The finalists, in the order in which they were selected, will then choose a horse to represent them in the Classic. Once a horse is selected, he may not be chosen later by any of the other finalists. The finalist whose horse wins the Classic wins the truck.

"We think this sweepstakes will be fun for all and further drive walk-up admission sales," said Damon Thayer, vice president of event marketing for the NTRA. "Dodge is to be commended for its enthusiastic support of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, and we look forward to handing one of our fans the keys to this outstanding vehicle."

Adding to the Breeders' Cup Day festivities will be the first-ever Guinness Rocks The Rail Infield-an Irish festival with live music, food, games and more-located on the west side of the Santa Anita infield. Headlining the Guinness Rocks the Rail Infield will be the Grammy Award-nominated musical group Seven Nations.

Another section of the Santa Anita infield-Ralphs Family Fun Zone-will be specially geared to the younger set and offer a host of activities including pony rides, face painting and a moon bounce.
