The 3YO sorting process continues in Baltimore with the Preakness Stakes. Let’s see what is left in the conditioning of the Kentucky Derby finishers. Additionally, the fresh mounts add flavor to the “Triple Crown” challenge for which only the “Derby Winner” Animal Kingdom is eligible.
The Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes completing “Triple Crown” are essentially progressive testing of speed and stamina. Only the extraordinary need to apply. A historic check of each “Triple Crown” winner offers unique characteristics in the display of excellence.
Many will proceed to Baltimore to witness the potential of “History in the making”.
Note. Shackleford, fourth place in the Derby, has the potential of stealing the Preakness. Pimlico will favor a fit front runner.
Animal Kingdom and company will have to keep closer to the pace while moving sooner on the quarter pole turn to complete the shorter One Mile and Three Sixteenths Preakness Stakes.
