On Sunday February 14, racing lost one of its most colorful personalities when Dick Francis, retired steeplechase jockey and mystery writer, passed away at the age of 89 at his home in the Cayman Islands. His family said he "died of old age".

I do not know much about steeplechasing, but I have followed Thoroughbred racing all of my life. Although I have heard of this famed jockey. He will be sadly missed.
I have most all his books, after reading the first one I was hooked!! Have not read all all them but will in time,, have to get the rest of them!! They are great@@@
Read a mystery novel by Dick Francis entitled “For Kicks” with the background being horseracing in England and Australia. Very good mystery and Mr. Francis was a prolific writer. He will be missed.
Sad loss.Only read one of his books though it was merely curiousity that deterred me to do it.
