Kentucky Oaks winning filly Rachel Alexandra beat the boys, leading most of the way, to win the 2009 Preakness. Kentucky Derby winner Mind That Bird closed late again but missed by a length, finishing second, with Musket Man third. Get the results, chart, and photos here.

IT WAS A SWEET THING TO SEE.BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT WAS SAD WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER YEAR TO SEE A TRIPLE CROWN HOPEFUL. WE HAD ONE THIS YEAR AS MINE THE BIRD WAS WELL CLEAR OF ALL HIS FOES.HE WAS ROBBED.HE WILL WIN THE BELMONT AS HIS DADDY DID. EVEN WITH RACHEL THERE.RACHELS ORIGINAL OWNERS NEVER NOMINATED HER TO THE TRIPLE CROWN BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IN THE BOYS WITH THE BOYS.SHE WAS LOSING HER BIT AND THE BELMONT IS A BRUTAL RACE.

Agree, Mine that Bird needs a new strategy, one where he doesn’t have to rely or expect a clear opening at the last minute. Borel found the holes but to continuously be out of position is wrong. This horse loves to run & has the power to win. If Smith wasn’t forced to the outside, you know he would of won it.

This is a small horse compared to Alexandra & look what he did. I’m waiting for the Belmont with much anticipation & I hope Borel & Alexandra are there too.

Mine that Bird is no fluke!!!!
