Saturday was the biggest race day of the year at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans with six stakes on the card. The biggest race of the day was the Louisiana Derby (G2) which was easily won by favorite Pyro (right.) The equivalent for the fillies was the Fair Grounds Oaks which was a virtual match race between rivals Proud Spell and the undefeated Indian Blessing. This time Proud Spell finally got the win after the two duelled for most of the race.
