Mineshaft Retired
Friday October 3, 2003
Trainer Neil Howard announced the retirement of Mineshaft today due to chips in both front ankles and a problem with his right knee. He retires with a record of 10-3-1 in 18 races and earnings $2,283,402 and will stand at stud at Lane's End Farm for a $100,000 fee. He is currently the top candidate for Horse of the Year honors, but since he will have to miss the Breeders' Cup Classic now, he is definitely not a certainty to win. Get details about the injuries and his career here.
